Then you are even closer than I was when I was about to take the plunge into this point and shoot "system". Go for it! And I don't know why you put "small" in quotation marks . . . this camera's frickin' tiny . . . the only stuff much smaller than it aren't worthy of taking photos for enlargement beyond 4x6 and don't even do ISO 400 properly, let alone 1600.

The F11 is a Japan-only product. I think that's pretty stupid . . . along with other silly Fuji things . . . like the GX645 which is identical to the Hasselblad H1 except for colour, and the buffer-upgraded Fuji S3 Pro. You can already order the F11 from Japan if you want. Landed cost in Canada will be probably about $550.

Turns out that the Fuji Finepix F11 is available on eBay for under $400US. Check it out if you like. Specs seem a bit different and it's beyond just manual control. If it isn't too much trouble, drop me a line if you decide to pick one up.

On my wishlist for the F12 would be a lens that's F/2.8 all the way through or maybe even F/2 if possible, a bit shorter on the wide end (willing to sacrifice a bit on the long end but more on that end would be nice, too), use of Secure Digital memory cards, full manual and flash sync of some sort. Perhaps a higher quality lens . . . for a lens like that on the Olympus 8080 but on an F12 form factor camera with a 6MP super CCD I would happily pay about $1000-1200 for the camera . . . dead serious. Even at $2000 I might consider . . . the imager is very good and I think that the lens may be the biggest drawback of it at this time. Pixel acuity is obviously nothing like the D2X but it seems like even the D200's pixel acuity isn't quite at the level of the D2X so asking for that kind of acuity is a bit unrealistic from a P&S. And I agree, for the price, it's a very tough camera to beat.

I had a portable cassette player when I was much younger but it was much less than inspiring. But walking around during the day with headphones in is kind of weird. I'm using these in-ear canal headphones you can actually hear the thump as your feet hit the ground when you're walking but you can't hear passing buses. I'm still not used to it . . . constantly looking around to watch for stuff that's trying to get your attention or people trying to talk to you. LOL . . . everyone talks about the pee picture and doesn't seem to be interested in anything else. =P I haven't tried the Olympus or looked up the specs but I'd assume that it would be using xD as well if it were a point and shoot. When you get the F10 there are a couple settings that you can change to get the highest frame rate out of the camera. Turn off shot review. Turn on high speed focus (I think that's what it is . . . uses a bit more power) and you can also turn on some strange continuous shooting mode thingie. The last setting gets disabled everytime you go and review an image though . . . kind of a pain but after a while I just stop reviewing and know that I have a good shot.
